Postdoctoral Scholar
Dr. Aman Sharma is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and an affiliate of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He is currently working on Forward modeling approach using the GENESIS array to constrain nuclear reaction cross sections by optimizing nuclear reaction model parameters while leveraging machine learning tools.
Before joining UC Berkeley, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he primarily worked on Bayesian model combination methods for predicting nuclear ground state properties. These predictions were subsequently used to predict nuclear reaction cross sections for nuclei far from stability.
He earned his PhD in Nuclear Physics at Banaras Hindu University, India, in 2023. His research interests focus on measuring and predicting neutron induced nuclear reaction cross sections of short-lived nuclei. With expertise in indirect cross section measurements, particularly the surrogate reaction method, uncertainty quantification, and machine learning, he aims to combine available theoretical knowledge with sparse experimental data and modern machine learning techniques to predict uncertainty quantified neutron induced nuclear reaction cross sections for short-lived nuclei across the nuclear chart.
