Alumnus, PhD 2024
Now at: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Chris Brand was a PhD student at UC-Berkeley Department of Nuclear Engineering and is currently employed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). His Academic Advisor was Prof. Lee Bernstein and his Laboratory Mentor was Dr. Darren Bleuel. He performed research in support of the fast, mono-energetic neutron imaging project at LLNL which includes various simulation/experimental efforts for neutron diagnostics.
Primarily, he was focused on neutron secondary time of flight measurements, neutron spectral unfolding, and proton recoil telescope measurements. He has provided support for experiments at the 88-inch cyclotron at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (including the GENESIS project), the Edwards Accelerator Laboratory at Ohio University, and the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at LLNL. In addition to research, Chris serves as the Lead Non-Nuclear Safety Basis Analyst and the Lead NIF Safety Basis Analyst at LLNL.
